The Death Zone is a mapping platform for Border Forensics’ investigation into the lethal pushback regime on the Polish–Belarusian border. It brings together the data behind the investigation, including verified, geocoded deaths, pushback trajectories, fence construction and cold-exposure modelling, so readers can explore how border infrastructure, policy and environment combine to cause harm.

The platform builds on the a framework we developed with Forensic Architecture. For this project we introduced staged patterns, which present the analysis step by step, building up layers of evidence to show how individual incidents form a wider system of violence.
